Special Welcome Message for Demigods of Cabin Thirteen:
R-r-right this way, child of Hades! Your dark and foreboding obsidian cabin awaits!
We s-s-sincerely hope you haven’t been waiting too long to learn more about Cabin Thirteen. We know that summer is technically over, but don’t you prefer the fall anyway? The cold air, the dead leaves, the eerie silence of the mostly empty campgrounds . . . Everything just the way you like it!
Remember, you’re always welcome to stay here at Camp Half-Blood. Any time of the year. No questions asked. (As if you need our permission.)
And, please, if there’s anything you need from any member of our senior staff, do not hesitate to let us know. We are here to serve you, Your Highness.
So, if you happen to find anything amiss in your cabin or less than satisfying about your stay, please, please, please talk to us first. Hopefully, we can resolve the issue in a prompt and timely manner . . . without the need to call upon any ghostly spirits or summon an army of the undead. (Or get your father involved in any capacity.)
But enough about that! You’re here for some non-summer fun and adventure! Or you’re here to draw the curtains and stay inside all day doing gods-know-what! How you choose to spend your time here is completely up to you! We promise we won’t impose!

Meet Your Head Counselor, Nico di Angelo:
“You mean to tell me there’s another child of Hades or Pluto running around camp? No. Nuh-uh. I don’t believe it. I can’t believe it. Most likely, you’re only pretending to be a child of Hades in order to get a better look at Cabin Thirteen.
“Prove it. Summon a skeleton right now. I’ll wait . . .”
“Ha! I knew it! Faker.
“Let me guess: some other camper told you that my cabin is crawling with all types of ghouls and demons, and you want to take a step inside to prove to your friends that you’re not scared.
“I can assure you that the only demons inside my cabin are small and fuzzy. And they mostly just eat my socks. If you’re looking for something like the Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion, go bother the kids at Hecate’s cabin.
“Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude. But you really should stay away from this cabin if you’re not a descendant of Hades. It’s for your own good. Most mortals aren’t equipped to set foot in a place with such strong ties to the Underworld . . .
“Also, I haven’t cleaned up in months. There’s clothes all over the floor. The bathroom is kind of musty. Trust me, the exterior is much more interesting than whatever you’ll find inside. I’ve been meaning to redecorate anyway. My boyfriend Will’s got some ideas. . . .
“If you’re really that eager to get a taste of the Underworld, just be patient. I’m sure you’ll have a chance to become acquainted with my father’s realm soon enough . . .
“Wait, that came out wrong. To be clear, I’m not suggesting that you’re going to die anytime soon. (Even if you are statistically at a higher risk of death than most other mortals simply because of your heritage). I only meant that demigods are often called down to the Underworld as part of a quest.
“Then again, those quests are often pretty deadly. And I suppose there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to find your way to the Underworld or escape once you do find your way. . .
“Uh, maybe I should just stop babbling.
“You know, I’m starting to see what Will meant when he said that I unwillingly intimidate the new kids . . .”
Are you a child of Hades? If so, how are you preparing for a stay at Cabin Thirteen? Be sure to let us know!
